About Diagnostic Procedures

A diagnostic procedure may be necessary in the understanding of the etiology, or cause, of the diseases or conditions of interest. Such clarification is useful for optimizing treatment, refining the prognosis, and preventing future recurrences of the disease or condition. Some diagnostic procedures available in Clinica are ECG, biopsy, imaging and more.

ECG (Electrocardiogram)

Electrocardiography is the process of creating an electrocardiogram, which records the electrical activity of the heart.

Electrocardiogram is a graph of voltage versus time of the electrical activity of the heart using electrodes placed on the skin. These electrodes detect the tiny electrical changes caused by the depolarization and repolarization of cardiac muscle during each cardiac cycle (heartbeat).

Biopsy

The process includes extraction of cells or tissues to detect disease presence or extent. The tissue is then fixed, dehydrated, embedded, sectioned, stained, and mounted before being studied through a microscope or chemically. It is commonly performed by a surgeon, or an interventional radiolog
